What is Yoga?

Yoga means union of the body and mind.  Yoga is a physical and mental discipline developed over many centuries in India and is a fabulous antidote to the demands of modern life.  You do not have to be flexible to start practising yoga!  Regular practice of the poses, also called asanas, will improve your mental and physical flexibility and strength as you learn to move with your breath and accept what your body can do on any given day.  What is a yoga body?  A body that practises yoga.  


A yoga class has a warm-up, usually followed by a sequence or flow of standing postures, then other poses such as balances, twists and seated poses before a well-earned relaxation.  Follow the link to my YouTube channel for some flows to get you started.
